Betty Jo Hirschfield Louik, DMD

Dr Betty Jo Hirschfield Louik graduated from the University of Pittsburgh  School of Dental Medicine in 1984, where she graduated first in her class. She was elected to the national dental honor society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon, as well as Phi Beta Kappa following her graduation from Chatham College in 1976. While in Dental School, Dr. Hirschfield received numerous honors and awards, including the American Association of Women Dentists Award, the American College of Dentists Award, the Alpha Omega Fraternity Award, and the Dr. Ann Welch Award for Oral Surgeons. After a general practice residency at the Veterans Administration Hospitals in Pittsburgh, Dr. Hirschfield began her private practice at her current Mt. Lebanon location. In addition to teaching at Pitt’s dental school for four years, Dr. Hirschfield’s professional associations include membership in the American and Pennsylvania Dental Associations, the Academy of General Dentistry, the International Team for Implantology, and the highly-regarded Seattle Study Club.  In 1996, Dr. Hirschfield received her Fellowship Award from the Academy of General Dentistry, which supports the continuing education efforts of dentists. In addition, Dr. Hirschfield has received the Talk of the Town Customer Satisfaction Award in  2012,  2013, 2014, and 2015, America’s Best Dentist Award for consecutively yearly since 2013 through 2023,  and is a Charter Member of the Peer Reviewed Dentists.  Opencare has selected Dr. Betty Jo as one of the Top 20 dental practices in Pittsburgh since 2016.  Pittsburgh Magazine has named her a Top Dentist every year since the award commenced in 2007.   Dr. Betty Jo was  also honored to be named one of Mt. Lebanon’s Great Alumni for 2014, recognizing her service to the community and her profession.  In July of 2017, Dr. Hirschfield was selected for inclusion in the Trademark Women of Distinction Honors Edition for demonstrating dedication, leadership, and professional excellence. As of February of this year, Dr. Betty Jo moved away from the clinical side of dentistry and moved into a more supportive role for Uptown Dental.

Dr. Hirschfield is married to attorney Howard Louik; they are happy to call Mt. Lebanon their home, where they’ve had the pleasure of raising their three children. Betty Jo and Howard love to bicycle and try to take 1 bike excursion a year.
